Images of British Lichens
Rhizocarpon ridescens (Nyl.) Zahlbr.
Thallus of discrete but clustered, high-domed, yellow areoles, sorediate; apothecia rare, not seen in Britain? Recently found in company with other metalliferous species on a single, siliceous rock-face in the Scottish Highlands. It is to be hoped that evident collection of this distinctive, non-critical species will not continue at this site.
