Images of British Lichens
Arthonia fuscopurpurea (Tul.) R.Sant.
Lacks a thallus or its own photobiont (and arguably a "lichen" only as a member of a generally lichenised genus), occurs in the thallus of Peltigera hymenina, forming rounded, red-brown to blackish, flat to convex apothecia. Scattered records in the north and west, no doubt under-recorded but not common.
